Jaipur: City police Wednesday arrested a 32-year-old man for allegedly abducting a 14-year-old boy from a road outside the SMS Hospital and sodomised him on May 17.
Station house officer of SMS Hospital police station Dharmendra Sharma said that the accused was identified as Hemraj Bairwa. The minor's family reported that the boy, who came to the SMS, went missing from a hospital ward while his family tended to his ailing uncle.
The minor was rescued within hours by Jaipur police in a coordinated operation, leading to the accused's arrest for kidnapping and assault.
"The incident unfolded on May 17 at SMS Hospital's ICU ward, where the boy's uncle was admitted for emergency care," Sharma said.
According to the complaint filed by the boy's aunt, the family rushed her critically ill husband to the surgical ICU on the second floor. The boy was left behind in the ward to guard their belongings. When the family returned 20 minutes later, he was missing, prompting a frantic search. A special team was mobilised that scoured CCTV footage from the hospital and nearby areas. Footage revealed the boy wandering near Tonk Road, where a man on a red motorcycle approached him, allegedly offering a ride before abducting him.
"The accused lured the child under the pretext of helping him find his way, then took him toward Shivdaspura Barkheda Toll Plaza," said Sharma. Technical surveillance and toll plaza footage tracked the motorcycle to a tea stall near the highway, where the boy was found hours later. "The boy revealed his ordeal, and we arrested the accused," he said.
