Silver jubilee of Karunbithil Shibira from May 20

Mangaluru: Karunbithil Shibira, an annual musical camp held in the remote village of Nidle, located on the Dharmasthala-Nelliady road, will hold its Silver Jubilee camp from Tuesday to May 25. Since its inception in 2000, this event has played a pivotal role in nurturing and inspiring music students, instilling a deep passion for learning and artistic growth.

This year, Vidwan RN Sreelatha, Vid Neyveli R Santhanagopalan, Vid Hosahalli Venkatram, Vid VV Subramaniam, Vid Nagai Muralidharan, Vid Srimushnam V Rajarao, Vid Maruthi Prasad, Vid D Srinivas, Vid Vidyabhushana, and many other renowned musicians will grace the event. Each of these artistes enjoys global recognition and boasts an impressive list of accomplishments.

This year's shibira promises to be even more captivating, featuring an array of innovative surprises for participants. From surprise concerts and individual performance opportunities accompanied by the violin and mridangam, quizzes, and enlightening lecture demonstrations, attendees can anticipate an enriching experience. Furthermore, participants will have the unique chance to interact closely with the star artistes, gaining invaluable insights and inspiration.

Sri Sachhidananda Bharathi Swamiji from Edneer Mutt, D Veerendra Heggade, Dharmasthala Dharmadhikari , M Mohan Alva, chairman, Alva's Education Foundation, Harish Poonja, MLA, Belthangady, Cleveland VV Sundaram, secretary, Cleveland Thyagaraja Aradhana Committee and VV Ramanamurthy, mridangam maestro, will grace the shibira.

The grand finale of this year's Karunbithil Shibira will be marked by a concert performance by Vid Vidyabhushana, culminating the event on a high note.

What started as a humble gathering of the Karunbithil family, led by the renowned violinist Vid Vittal Ramamurthy from Chennai and his sisters, settled in various parts of the country, has now evolved into a highly anticipated annual tradition. Initially drawing a small group of students, the Karunbithil Shibira has flourished into a significant event, attracting over 200 participants from across Dakshina Kannada, and even from far-off regions.

The shibira promises a year-long journey of enlightenment and enjoyment. Throughout its history, the Karunbithil Shibira gained widespread recognition due to the presence of star artistes who graced the event.
