THANE: A 30-year-old man was arrested for stalking and harassing an 11-year-old girl in Thane district, Maharashtra, on Tuesday.
The accused allegedly followed the girl multiple times as she returned from school and attempted to grab her, urging her to get into an auto-rickshaw.
According to police, "The man also threatened to harm the girl if she informed anyone about the offense."
The girl's mother reported the incident to the police on Sunday, leading to the man's arrest.
The accused has been charged under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including sections 74 (assault or use of criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty), 75 (sexual harassment), 78 (stalking), 351(2) (criminal intimidation), and provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
