Thane educational institute director held for taking Rs 1.10 lakh bribe

THANE: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has arrested the director of a well-known educational institution in Thane, Maharashtra for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 1.10 lakh on Tuesday.

The arrest occurred after an employee, whose annual increment had been held up for two years.

According to DSP Dharmaraj Sonke, the director, also the joint secretary of the Shahapur institution, demanded the bribe to restore the employee's increment.

The employee, unwilling to pay the bribe, approached the ACB with a complaint. The ACB then set a trap and arrested the director for accepting the bribe at a bus stop near a school in the Khinavli area on Monday.

An FIR has been filed against the accused under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
