Former India pacer and bowling coach Paras Mhambrey is set to reunite with the Mumbai Indians (MI) as a member of the coaching staff, the five-time Indian Premier League ( IPL ) winners confirmed on Wednesday.
Mhambrey will work closely with the MI bowling coach Lasith Malinga as part of Head Coach Mahela Jayawardene's staff.
Mhambrey had a successful stint as India's bowling coach during Rahul Dravid's tenure as the head coach, which included the triumphant campaign at the T20 World Cup in June this year. The coaching tenure of Dravid and his staff ended after that tournament in the US and the Caribbean islands.
Dravid's former teammate and opener Gautam Gambhir took over as India's head coach from thereon.
Mhambrey, who hails from Mumbai itself and played his cricket for the state, has previously worked as a member of the MI coaching staff that saw the team winning IPL and Champions League T20 titles.
The former right-arm pacer played two Tests and three ODIs, while appearing in 91 first-class matches for Mumhai.
"He's worked closely with our boys in the past, and we are super excited to have him back in the Blue and Gold," read the MI press release.
