Drake's viral post mocking Shohei Ohtani sparks fiery reaction as Miguel Rojas hits back for disrespecting Los Angeles Dodgers superstar

Drake’s Instagram post about Blue Jays rookie Trey Yesavage striking out Shohei Ohtani has set off a storm across Major League Baseball — and Dodgers infielder Miguel Rojas isn’t keeping quiet about it. The Toronto rapper shared a photo capturing the moment Ohtani’s helmet flew off during a missed swing, but it was his cheeky caption — “Savage already otw to the dugout boss lol” — that fueled outrage across the league and drew an immediate response from Rojas and fans alike.

What many initially viewed as playful hometown banter didn’t sit well with players who deeply respect Ohtani’s impact on the game. The Dodgers’ two-way superstar has redefined baseball with his rare combination of power, precision, and humility, earning global admiration for his conduct both on and off the field. Drake’s jab, however lighthearted it seemed, was taken as a slight against a player many consider the face of modern baseball — and that’s where Rojas decided to step in.

Drake’s Shohei Ohtani post drew heat as Miguel Rojas called him out for crossing the line

Rojas was one of the first to publicly respond, calling out Drake for the remark and defending his teammate’s integrity. Speaking to reporters on Friday, he made it clear that Ohtani’s legacy and contribution to the sport go far beyond a single viral moment.

“When you kind of disrespect, even just a little bit, the best player in the game, not understanding the quality of the person and what the guy has done for baseball, it’s really hard to jump to conclusions at that time,” Rojas said.

He went on to explain that the Dodgers clubhouse didn’t take Drake’s words lightly. “Shohei Ohtani has been doing everything and anything for baseball, and that’s why I kind of took it personally at that moment. Those words probably wouldn’t come out of my mouth because I’m not like that — my personality isn’t that way — but we definitely had a guy in our locker room, and we all saw it right away. We weren’t happy about it, but we had to finish the business.”

Rojas’ reaction struck a chord among fans and players, many of whom echoed his defense of Ohtani. Across social media, baseball loyalists rallied behind the Dodgers star, applauding Rojas for speaking up. “You don’t troll Ohtani — he’s the heart of baseball,” one fan posted on X. Another wrote, “Miguel Rojas said what every real baseball fan was thinking.”

While Drake has yet to respond to the growing backlash, his post has once again proven how quickly his words can ignite a storm. What started as a joke about a strikeout has now turned into a full-blown baseball controversy — and thanks to Miguel Rojas, the message is clear: you don’t take swings at Shohei Ohtani, even off the field.
