Will Mike Tomlin's Choice Between Wilson and Fields Ignite a Fan Uproar?

Send Push
It's a rollercoaster season so far for the Pittsburgh Steelers . The plans were to spend a bargain price in acquiring quarterback Russell Wilson from the Denver Broncos and play him to squeeze out as much experience as he could give to the team, only to have that 35-year-old injured in such a way that forces the Steelers to turn to 25-year-old Justin Fields . Impressive as it is that Fields opened so well before fizzling, the team is now in a precarious position.

QB Dilemma
With Wilson fit again and also looking to steal the starting position ahead of this weekend's match against the Jets, the Steelers have a very tough call to make. During his latest visit to @TheFacilityFS1, wide receiver George Pickens went on to expound on this by saying, "I'm really the most unselfish guy in the world. To me, they're both good players." He went as far as to say that both quarterbacks have different kinds of playing styles as he continued talking as follows: "I know they can both engineer a victory." That's where the problem lies when it comes to choosing a starter between the two.

The Impact of Injuries
The season suffered through injury-ridden seasons not only to the quarterback but the whole team. Wilson's promising season had to cut short by his unfortunate setback while Fields, despite boasting immense talent, couldn't hold on for long. This unpredictability has challenged the depth and grit of the team, leaving fans and analysts impatient to see how the coaching staff is going to play out the changing dynamics.

The Road Ahead
A decision for the guy who will be doing most of the talking on offense for the Steelers when they open the season against the Jets is long overdue. Two very strong cases had been made for Wilson and Fields, this season. The choice may well determine how the rest of the year unfolds for the Steelers, desperate to recapture their stingy spirit.

The Steelers' quarterback situation is an apt reflection of the trouble with their team in general. And with Wilson hopefully returning, and Fields more inconsistent, the team has some tough decisions to make about which they would prefer to be the weapons to further boost their chances of winning from here on out.
