Australian cricket captain Alyssa Healy appeared on crutches before the team's final Group A match against India on Sunday.
Healy suffered an injury during Friday's game against Pakistan while attempting a single. She left the field with what was described as an " acute injury to her right foot." Healy arrived on crutches for the clash against India in Sharjah, according to the ICC.
Cricket Australia is expected to provide more information about her injury before the match against India.
"Alyssa sustained an acute right foot injury while running between wickets," a release by Cricket Australia had stated after the Pakistan game as quoted by ICC.
"Once we have more information based on her assessment and scans tomorrow, her availability for the remainder of the tournament will be clearer" the statement had added.
Australia’s Tayla Vlaeminck has been ruled out for the remainder of the ICC Women's T20 World Cup due to a dislocated shoulder. Heather Graham has been approved to replace her in the squad.
Australia, currently leading Group A with three wins in three matches, aims for a spot in the semi-final. A win against India would secure their place, though further results will determine their exact semi-final matchup. India stands second in Group A with two wins and one loss, totaling four points.
In the ongoing competition, Australian player Alyssa Healy has scored 67 runs in three games, with scores of 37*, 26, and 4. Her absence would significantly impact the team. Healy, in her T20I career, has played in 162 matches, accumulating 3,054 runs at an average of 25.45, including one century and 17 fifties. Her top score is 148*.
