The eighth edition of the India Mobile Congress (IMC) 2024 started at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi, today (October 15). The IMC 2024 is happening concurrently with ITU-WTSA. Organized by the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) and the Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI), IMC 2024, runs through October 18. PM Narendra Modi IMC 2024 inaugurated IMC 2024.
One of the highlights of the event is Ericsson 's 5G-powered robotic dog Rocky showcased at the company's booth at MWC. The Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia too shared a post on Rocky, calling him his "new friend" on social media platform X, formerly Twitter. The telecom minister also shared a one minute video of his interaction with Rocky at Ericsson's booth.
"Meet my new friend Rocky, Ericsson's 5G-powered robotic dog that assists with efficient emergency response. By sending alerts in time, it can help authorities deal with emergency situations like fire outbreaks," wrote Scindia in a post on X (formerly Twitter).
The video shared by Scindia shows Ericsson team giving him a demonstration of the 5G-powered robotic dog. The Ericsson officials explained its functionality. The minister can then be seen patting Rocky, after the demonstration.
"Held a fruitful discussion on best practices in telecom infrastructure development, aligning government policies with the innate strengths of the respective States, incentivising OEMs and strengthening the #MakeInIndia initiative to position India as a product nation!," the Minister wrote in another post.
"Looking forward to working with all the States/UTs to build a robust, secure and sustainable telecom sector," Scindia said.
The IMC 2024 focuses on key areas such as 6G and 5G advancements, artificial intelligence (AI), quantum technology, cybersecurity, semiconductors, Internet of Things (IoT) and electronics manufacturing.
