NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court on Monday dismissed a petition that claimed COVID-19 vaccines caused adverse effects such as blood clotting .
The bench, consisting of Chief Justice DY Chandrachud and Justices JB Pardiwala and Manoj Misra , refused to consider the plea, saying it was merely an attempt to create a sensation.
The court also questioned the consequences if people had not received the vaccine. "File a class action suit! What is the use of this? Please also understand what would be the side-effect if you did not take the vaccine. We do not want to rake this up, this is just to create a sensation," the top court remarked, expressing scepticism about the petition's purpose.
Furthermore, the court inquired whether the petitioner's lawyer had taken the vaccine himself. The lawyer confirmed that he had and, when asked, said that he had not experienced any side effects.
The petition was filed by Priya Mishra and others, challenging the alleged side effects of COVID vaccines.
