NEW DELHI: An encounter between security forces and suspected terrorists is currently under way in Marta village of the Ramnagar area in Jammu and Kashmir ’s Udhampur district. The gunfight began on Wednesday during a joint search operation.
According to Deputy Inspector General of Police , Udhampur-Reasi Range , Rayees Mohammad Bhat, the gunfight broke out after a joint search operation was launched by Jammu and Kashmir Police and other security agencies. During the operation, contact was established with the hiding terrorists, triggering a fierce exchange of fire.
"Two to three terrorists are believed to be trapped at the encounter site. Firing is ongoing," DIG Bhat told ANI news agency.
