Thiruvananthapuram: The SHO of Thiruvananthapuram's Parassala police station, who fatally knocked down a 59-year-old pedestrian and left him unattended on Wednesday, has been suspended. Locals rushed the victim, Rajan, to a hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
SP K S Sudarshan wrote to DIG Ajeetha Begum on Sunday, recommending the suspension of SHO P Anil Kumar following an investigation into the accident.
CCTV footage from near the accident site did not capture vehicle number, but police identified the car Saturday using visuals from a toll plaza.
DIG Begum said, "If it is found that the officer deliberately fled, BNS Section 103 for murder will be invoked and strict action will be taken."
Police found that the SHO had taken the vehicle to a workshop shortly after the incident. tnn
