NEW DELHI: Plans are underway to take PM Gati Shakti scheme global, with discussions in progress with several countries, including Nepal, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Madagascar, Senegal and Gambia. “Taking PMGS to the international level and promoting the use of PM Gati Shakti and geospatial technology in the integrated planning of infrastructure diplomatic engagements are underway with countries in the neighbourhood,” said govt in a statement on Saturday.
Govt is also considering granting non-govt players access to non-sensitive shareable data relevant to the planning of infrastructure projects. This access will be provided in a secure manner, the statement added. So far, about 208 infrastructure projects involving several ministries, including roads and railways, worth over Rs 15 lakh crore have been sent for approval, officials said.
PM Gati Shakti has integrated 44 central ministries and 36 states and UTs with more than 1,600 data layers, making it a crucial tool for planning and executing infrastructure projects.
PM Gati Shakti national master plan (NMP) for muti-modal connectivity was launched by PM Modi on Oct 13, 2021 and completed three years on Saturday.
“PM Gati Shakti has brought about a paradigm shift in how India plans and implements infrastructure projects. By integrating data from multiple ministries and states, we have created a more efficient, transparent, and outcome-driven system. The impact is visible in faster project execution, lower logistics costs, and better services reaching every corner of the country,” said commerce and industry minister Piyush Goyal .
All 36 states and UTs have developed PM Gati Shakti state master plan (SMP) portals, aligned with the PM Gati Shakti NMP platform, to synchronise infrastructure assets and enhance regional development.
