Israel carried out a limited strike on an Iranian radar facility in response to what it described as an Iranian missile barrage, but initially held back from broader retaliation following consultations with US President Donald Trump. However, Israeli defense minister Israel Katz later instructed the military to resume strikes, citing continued Iranian missile launches well after the ceasefire was supposed to begin.
In a significant escalation, Iranian state media reported the killing of Mohammad Reza Sedighi Saber, a high-ranking nuclear scientist sanctioned by the US, in an Israeli airstrike. Iran reported that a pre-ceasefire Israeli strike killed nine civilians.
Trump warns Israel against bombing Iran
Given the repeated violations, Trump warned Israel against bombing Iran saying, "Israel. Do not drop those bombs. If you do it is a major violation. Bring your pilots home, now!"
"Israel is not going to attack Iran. All planes will turn around and head home, while doing a friendly “Plane Wave” to Iran. Nobody will be hurt, the Ceasefire is in effect! Thank you for your attention to this matter!" he said in another post on Truth Social.

Iran moves towards continuing nuke programme; Trump warns against it
Iran's government said that it had "implemented necessary steps" to maintain the progress of its nuclear program following US and Israeli attacks on its facilities. "We have taken the necessary measures and are taking stock of the damage" caused by the strikes, AFP reported head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran, Mohammad Eslami saying.
"Plans for restarting (the facilities) have been prepared in advance, and our strategy is to ensure that production and services are not disrupted," he added.
Meanwhile, hours after this, Trump declared in a post on Truth Social, "Iran will never rebuild their nuclear facilities".
Israel says 'refrained' from further strikes; Iran says 'will respect'
Israeli PM Netanyahu held back from launching further attacks on Iran after a call with Trump. Netanyahu's office said that the prime minister spoke with Trump and, as a result, Israel chose not to carry out additional strikes on Iran. The statement confirmed that Israel had already targeted and destroyed a radar facility near Tehran in response to Iranian missile attacks, while Israeli media indicated that Netanyahu reduced the scope of the operation based on Trump’s response.
Incidentally, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said that Iran was willing to honor the ceasefire declared by Trump, as long as Israel adhered to the agreement as well.
"If the Zionist regime does not violate the ceasefire, Iran will not violate it either," Pezeshkian said during a phone conversation with Malaysian PM Anwar Ibrahim, AFP reported citing a presidency website.

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian announced an end to "12-day imposed war" after Trump said that both Tehran and Israel "equally" wanted to stop the war.
"Today, after the heroic resistance of our great nation, whose determination makes history, we are witnessing the establishment of a truce and the ending of this 12-day war imposed by the adventurism and provocation" of Israel, Pezeshkian said, AFP reported.
This came after Trump said in a post on Truth Social: "Both Israel and Iran wanted to stop the War, equally! It was my great honor to Destroy All Nuclear facilities & capability, and then, STOP THE WAR!"
