Donald Trump Jr made a Halloween statement by wearing a garbage bag costume, responding to President Biden's recent critical remarks about his father's supporters.
The former president's eldest son shared photos on X showing him trick-or-treating with family while dressed in a black garbage bag with attached debris.
"Embrace their hate and own it," Trump Jr wrote, adding "Then VOTE! I'm fine being garbage like the rest of you deplorable and irredeemables @ patriots!!! Love you all hope you have a blast tonight!!!"
The costume choice followed Biden's recent campaign call comments where he said, "The only garbage I see floating out there is his supporters. His demonization of Latinos is unconscionable, and it's un-American." Biden was responding to comedian Tony Hinchcliffe 's remarks about Puerto Rico at Trump's Madison Square Garden rally.
This incident reminded many of Hillary Clinton's 2016 "basket of deplorables" comment about Trump supporters, leading the White House to attempt damage control.
The White House later released a transcript attempting to clarify Biden's statement by adding punctuation to suggest he was only criticizing the comedian.
Former President Trump also responded to the situation by arriving at a Wisconsin campaign event in a garbage truck while wearing an orange safety vest, declaring, "This truck is in honour of Kamala and Joe Biden ." He continued wearing the vest during his Green Bay speech.
