Prince Harry is reportedly contemplating the future of his marriage to Meghan Markle, as fresh reports suggest that they are 'leading very separate lives,' and are drifting apart.
Star Magazine quoted sources close to the couple indicate a noticeable change in Harry's demeanor during recent solo outings, where he has been showcasing a 'different energy.'
The couple made headlines nearly five years ago when they stepped down as senior royals and moved to California. Since then, Harry has been dealing with a family rift, particularly concerning his brother, Prince William, and sister-in-law, Princess Kate.
There are speculations that Kate could help mend Harry's relationship with William, but Meghan, 43, has expressed no desire to return to royal life in the UK, as she felt like an outsider.
Described as "very opinionated" and "a control freak," by the source, Meghan may turn out to be a roadblock to Harry’s aspirations for independence. Harry has reportedly started taking solo trips, including a recent visit to New York, during which he looked more relaxed and content.
According to an insider from Star Magazine, “People noticed this was a more relaxed Harry. He was smiling and clearly relishing meeting with people about things that really matter to him.”
The insider added: "Harry's given up so much for this marriage — his family, his home, friends. There's this feeling he's been striving to make Meghan happy at the expense of his own happiness."
Recent months have been hard for the couple. Meghan’s Spotify contract ended last year, which led to a decline in their charitable foundation contributions, and her lifestyle brand, American Rivera Orchard, is yet to be launched.
Star Magazine source said: "As his solo trips continue, Harry is savouring these times when he's by himself. But it could spell more trouble for his marriage."
Reports suggest that Harry and Meghan are effectively on a “trial separation” as their relationship navigates this rough patch. The couple also wants to take this time to pursue their different desires and futures.
