Malvi Malhotra: I am ready to move forward now

Send Push
After a four-year legal battle, actress Malvi Malhotra finally found justice as producer Yogesh Kumar Singh , who allegedly stalked and stabbed her three times in 2020, was sentenced to three years in prison by a Mumbai sessions court earlier this month. Reflecting on the verdict, she says, “Though it took a long time, I feel vindicated now that the judgment has come in my favour. I’m happy and at peace, and ready to move forward.”

The incident, which left her physically and emotionally scarred, was difficult to overcome. Malvi had to undergo extensive medical treatment, including plastic surgery. She recalls, “It took six months to heal physically, but the mental recovery was much longer. I will forever be grateful to my parents, who supported me through the trauma and fear that haunted me for so long. Healing mentally doesn’t happen overnight — it’s a slow process. Work kept me busy and distracted, which also helped. I urge women to be cautious and alert because the world can be dangerous. Taking care of oneself is crucial.”

Apart from her family’s support, her career also gave her the strength to move forward. The actress, who appeared in the TV show Udaan and has been part of the Punjabi film Zorawar Di Jacqueline and the Malayalam film Abhyuham , has been actively working in regional cinema . She shares, “Last year was incredible for me — I completed four films in regional languages and have shot three more this year. God has been kind, and I feel blessed to receive consistent work. I’m grateful that no one judges me based on that horrific incident or anything else in my past. I truly appreciate all the blessings and people in my life.”

What about Bollywood ? “Today, films are not confined to any language — everything is going pan-India. I’m getting great opportunities in the South, and I’m extremely happy with the direction my career is taking. I’m sure I’ll be working in Hindi films soon, and I’m looking forward to it,” she concludes.
