This fund not only serves as a pension post-retirement but can also be accessed in emergencies, such as medical needs, education expenses, or family crises. Recent updates allow PF account holders to withdraw up to ₹1 lakh, doubling the previous limit of ₹50,000.

To ensure a smooth withdrawal process, it’s essential to avoid these five common mistakes:

  • Incorrect Name in Documents: Discrepancies between your name on the checkbook or passbook and your EPF records can lead to application rejection.
  • Inconsistent KYC Information: Mismatches in the details provided during Know Your Customer (KYC) verification can cause delays or denials in your request.
  • UAN Not Linked to Aadhaar: Ensure that your Universal Account Number (UAN) is linked to your Aadhaar number; failure to do so may hinder the withdrawal process.
  • Incorrect Bank Account Number: Make sure your bank account number is exactly 11 digits long, as any variation can result in application rejection.
  • PDF Issues: Sometimes, issues with opening PDF files related to the claim can complicate the process.

    To withdraw money from your PF account, follow these steps:


  • Visit the EPFO Members e-Service Portal: Navigate to the official EPFO website.
  • Access the Member Section: Click on the member section.
  • Log In: Enter your UAN, password, and captcha.
  • Select Online Services: Click on the 'Online Services' tab and choose 'Claim (Form-31, 19, 10C, and 10D)' from the drop-down menu.
  • Fill in Your Details: Provide necessary information such as your name, date of birth, etc.
  • Select Withdrawal Form: Choose Form 31 for partial withdrawals and specify the reason for your request from the given options.
  • Submit Your Request: After submitting, you will receive an OTP on your mobile number linked to your Aadhaar.
  • Enter OTP: Input the OTP to proceed.
  • Check Claim Status: You can track the status of your claim under the 'Track Claim Status' option in the 'Online Services' tab.
