WhatsApp , the most widely used messaging app in India for text, voice, and video calls, is experimenting with a new feature aimed at making call links easier to share in both group and individual chats. Drawing inspiration from platforms like Google Meet and Zoom, users can now simply click on the shared link and tap the 'Join' button to connect with the other party.
Although WhatsApp, owned by Meta , already had the call link feature, its previous implementation was cumbersome. Users had to navigate through the 'Calls' tab, locate the "Create call link" option, and choose the call type by tapping the "Plus" icon—a process that deterred many from using it regularly.
Steps to Create Call Links on WhatsApp:
It's important to note that after sending the link, both participants need to tap the "Join call" button to initiate the conversation. This process is the same for group calls as well. By placing the new Call Link option within the attachment menu, the feature becomes more visible and easier to use. Currently, it’s accessible only to a limited group of beta testers , but since the feature already exists, it should function seamlessly for everyone once it rolls out widely.
